In 2012, Theresa began her Brazilian Jiu- Jitsu journey as a curious woman eager to learn self- defense with a group of friends who worked out together. Drawn to the sport's physical and mental challenge, she quickly fell in love with how BJJ fuels her with energy, freedom and power. Theresa's foundational training under Laercio Fernandes- a respected black belt who himself trained under Givanildo Santana and often worked with Ruben Charles " Cobrinha " Maciel -set her on the right path.

Eventually, Laercio directed Theresa to continue her development under the World Champion Professor Rubens Charles "Cobrinha" Maciel.

Under his expert guidance, She received all her belts from him, and in November 2024, she proudly earned her black belt - marking a milestone in a journey defined passion, perseverance, and the transformative power of Jiu-Jitsu.

Theresa is passionate about giving back by using Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to empower women- through practical self-defense skills. She aims to build a supportive, inclusive environment where all women can safely challenge themselves, develop both physical and emotional resilience, and discover a renewed sense of capacity and community. Through structured training , thoughtful awareness practices, and compassionate mentorship, she aims to empower women not just to defend themselves- but to reclaim their strength, reclaim their voices, and move through life with confidence and peace of mind.
